Shimber is a Helsinki-based design company exploring a new material direction for luxury design, architecture, and fashion. Their wood-based, pigment-free structural color creates hues not through dyes, but via microscopic structures that manipulate light — a naturally luminous effect reminiscent of butterfly wings. Designed for premium interiors, collectible objects, and couture, the color is built into the material, offering depth and subtle shifts with movement and light.

At Stockholm Creative Edition 2026, Shimber presents HERBARIUM, a botanical surface concept inspired by archival collections from the Porvoo region in Finland and realised through Shimber’s newly developed MOSAIC LAYERING TECHNIQUE. Drawing on an intarsia-like approach, the work marks the first patterned expression of Shimber’s structural colour.
