PINNPALL – A DIALOGUE BETWEEN CRAFT TRADITION AND INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY

The project moves between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary technology, with a strong focus on material, process, and the role of the hand in shaping form.
The stool takes its starting point in the heritage of the Windsor chair and the flowering meadows of Småland. Handmade with turned legs, it combines waterjet cutting – a technique primarily associated with industrial contexts – with the tactile warmth of birch. The hand-drawn pattern cut into the seat functions as a tactile ornament, casting floral shadows and creating a dialogue between vernacular tradition, ornamentation, and modern design. Matilda Lindstam Nilsson is a furniture and product designer, educated at Carl Malmsten School of Furniture Studies, 2023.
