One of this year’s most exciting venues for Stockholm Creative Edition is Grönlandet – a true architectural gem designed by the legendary Sigurd Lewerentz.

Completed in 1932 as the headquarters for Sweden’s national insurance office, Grönlandet is now a protected cultural heritage site and one of Stockholm’s most remarkable examples of modernist architecture with classicist undertones. From the monumental brick façade to the distinctive elliptical courtyard—designed to bring daylight into every room—every detail reflects Lewerentz’s masterful sensitivity to light, material, and proportion.

Six floors, two basements, one attic. Designed by Sigurd Lewerentz, winner of the 1929 architectural competition. Constructed under the Royal Board of Public Buildings. Listed as a heritage site since 1992 and blue-rated by the Stockholm City Museum for its exceptional cultural value.

This May, Grönlandet opens its doors during Stockholm Creative Edition, where Ateljé Södersvik will present a site-specific installation in dialogue with the building’s quiet monumentality.
