DOORS is a design project where Carl gives new life to reclaimed materials. By repurposing old doors, he creates unique furniture pieces that carry traces of their past. Each object is shaped by the door’s original structure, color, and patina, resulting in a distinct and sustainable expression.
The doors for DOORS are sourced from places in transition — buildings being renovated or demolished, where materials would otherwise be lost. Others are discovered through local ads or marketplaces, passed on by people who no longer need them. Every door bears marks of its history and is selected for its character before being transformed into a new piece.
In the workshop, the process is driven by curiosity. As Carl dissects each door, he uncovers its hidden anatomy: layers, constructions, and surprising details that were previously unseen. By following the traces in the material, the door’s inner structure guides the transformation. Each cut reveals something new, allowing the furniture to emerge organically from the door’s own story.
Carl Lindström participates in Stockholm Creative Edition for the third time.
He has studied spatial design at Konstfack – University of Arts, Crafts and Design, and also explored interior design and fine arts at Parsons School of Design in New York. His education includes architecture and design studies at Nyckelviksskolan as well as design and engineering at KTH – Royal Institute of Technology.
