For Stockholm-based designer and sculptor Kajsa Melchior, the complex relationship and dualism between mind and body is at the center stage of her design practice.
Her evocative work blends natural elements with contemporary design, often exploring the in-betweenness and balance of design and sculpture. Through a meticulous process of sketching, modeling, and experimenting with various materials, she transforms her vision into tangible art pieces. With works showcased in galleries in London and Geneva, Melchior is demonstrating that the beauty of her design lies in the imperfections and the record of nature’s force as well as her analytical methods.
“I go to science for inspiration. As all living creatures, I love to learn. Being in “learning mode” has turned out to be the best way for me to activate my creativity.”
Her studio on Nybrogatan fosters creativity and her desire to explore, where she is currently working on a sculptural object for the the Venice Biennale 2024
Kajsa is also educated in interior design and runs several residential projects besides her sculptural practice. Her work and design approach was awarded with Elle Deco Design Award 2024.
