TRADITION: FUTURE

There’s a professional group that uses their hands more than most. One that works with their hands, creates with their hands, and shapes with their hands. As the group’s name suggests, hands are the key elements in their craft. Hantverkarna (Handcrafters).

For the past two years, 35 promising students have been schooled, have enhanced their skills, and have been able to practice their future profession in the Hantverksakademin’s traditional apprenticeship program. They have also been equipped to run their own businesses. The graduating class comprises many different vocational orientations, including a boatbuilder, a blacksmith, and an art framer. The common denominator is that they all work with their hands.

At EX:UT, Hantverkakademin’s graduation exhibition, you can meet the students, talk to them, and take a closer look at their graduation projects. They have the vital task of carrying the tradition of handcraft straight into the future.
