Folkform atelier will open its doors to the public during Stockholm Creative Edition.
The exhibition L’art Plissé started as a collaboration between the Swedish design studio Folkform and the artist and fashion designer Roland Hjort. They came together to create an exhibition showcasing new work in autumn 2020 – paintings and collages by Hjort and new lighting objects by Folkform, using the traditional craft of pleating textiles. The design of the pleated lamps drew on the old tradition of folding lampshades, as well as pleating techniques used in the manufacture of clothing. The project found a new expression for these techniques by creating a structure that involved folding both the shade and the base of the lamp in a stiffened fabric.
The Plissé lamp has already recieved attention and was nominated for the Swedish design Award by Rum 2021 Product of the year, and now recently the exhibition Lárt Plissé was longlisted for Dezeen awards.
During Stockholm Creative Edition Folkform will host an exhibition in their gallery and studio on Södermalm in Stockholm revealing new unique patterns and work with the Plissé collection in collaboration with Hjort. The duo will also exhibit unique studio produced objects and furniture.
Address: Grindsgatan 29, Stockholm
