In 2022 a professor from Chalmers, a naval architect, two engineers and the creative founder of a Swedish sustainable fashion brand, teamed up united by a passion for design and sustainability creating Ekbacken Studios.
We don’t believe in trends, we believe in lifestyle and we challenge today’s consumer to reconsider the value of waste and question what luxury is. By re-using existing resources in combination with modern production techniques, we create sustainable and durable design pieces without harming our planet. Put quite simply, we turn trash into interior treasure.
Ekbacken Studios is transforming the furniture industry by digitizing the production methods. 3D printing allows us to step outside existing boundaries and enable new forms and structures in every piece we create. Apart from the collections offered, the Studio also creates tailor-made solutions. Through the use of waste materials and 3D printing, we can reduce the CO2 emissions with up to 93 % compared to using virgin plastic and traditional production methods.
Our responsibilities, however, go beyond environmental sustainability, with a portion of profits being re-invested in local initiatives in Portugal, where our material is sourced.
For Stockholm Creative Edition 2023, Ekbacken Studios will present some exciting additions to their furniture collection.
