THE PLATES SERIES – NEWS FOR THE COMMUNAL MEAL

Alwares presents new pieces in The Plates Series, a collection of plates designed by Straight Design Studio. The collection is a growing selection of plates and bowls specially designed to highlight the raw ingredient being served or with a focus on the specific dish. The new additions are inspired by pasta and the joint meal with family, where the food is central. All parts are made of stoneware and handmade by Samir Dzabirov in Gustavsberg.

Based on the Nordic minimalism, in combination with England’s use of colors and patterns, Alwares produces objects for the home. Everything from small essential items to tailored furnishings, all with the set table in mind. Inspired by her childhood and grandfather, founder Jill Ågren, works closely with her chosen craftsmen. Craftsmen who all possess high knowledge of material and skills that require a lot of patience, whose time is fully devoted to discovering and learning about the use of natural materials. Unique objects and limited editions adds to the strength of creating memories and a personal home, therefore the understanding of function and uniqueness is an important and common factor to achieve the best result.
